Liesel has many years of teaching experience under her belt. From teaching in her private studio, through university-level students, she believes in a well-rounded approach to music education. Other teaching experience includes group teaching, flute methods class (university), coaching of woodwind sections in orchestras and bands, music theory and aural skills.
What level of students do you teach? I teach students of all ages and abilities, and I would be happy to help you with the following:
-preparing for exams, such as RCM -preparing for university entrance auditions (at least a year of lessons is recommended) -for personal goals and for the enjoyment of music
When and where do lessons take place? Lessons are arranged at a mutually agreed-upon time in my studio at home. The price depends on the length of the lesson. I am also available to travel to your home for an extra charge.
For students up to age 18, lessons take place weekly throughout the school year. A Flexpass is available for busy adult students. Please contact me for further details. Introductory lesson For those who would like to try it out to see whether it would be a good fit, I offer a free introductory lesson.
My teaching style:
encouraging;
geared towards the individual needs of the student;
the quality of the teaching is the same whether you want to pursue a career in performance, play purely for fun, or anything in between;
students are expected to come prepared for lessons, be open to suggestions, and be willing to participate actively in the learning process.
A testimonial from the parent of a current student:
"Liesel has been my daughter E's flute teacher for two years. As a former professional flute player and teacher myself, I am rather picky about the music teachers I choose for my daughters. Liesel is a marvelous teacher for E. She knows how to balance encouragement and challenge, and brings enormous musicality and musical knowledge to her teaching. She demonstrates a great kindness respect for her student. This has been made evident when she and E. have performed in public together; Liesel treats her like a musical colleague, which has done wonders for E's sense of confidence. Liesel's guidance has really developed E's love of and enthusiasm for music." - Lynn M.
